Magdala

You've heard her name.  Now, know her story.

In the time of Christ, there were only two ways a woman could obtain wealth: as a prostitute or as a freed gladiator.  Forced into Roman slavery after her family was killed, young Mariana slices the cheek of one of her captors, earning her the nickname "Magdala" (the tower).  Clearly not of the constitution to become a good servant, she is sent to the colosseum where her exploits become the thing of legend and eventually leads her to befriend a wayward stranger from a town called Nazareth.
