Kyote

Feature Film - Teen, Horror, Native American

Screenplay: J Michael Smith

To cure their boredom, teenagers living on a reservation in Oklahoma have started an underground mutton busting rodeo - featuring their younger siblings.  Every Saturday night, they meet in a secluded location around an abandoned oil well where a rodeo ring has been fashioned out of scrap metal, lit using a combination of car headlights and a few light poles powered by a refurbished generator.

To supply the rodeo, one of the teens (Ky) throws a coyote skin around himself and robs the sheep from a few local farmers.  One night, while wearing the skin, Ky is fatally struck by a mysterious drunk driver who tries an ancient shaman's ritual to bring him back to life.  As Ky's spirit returns to his body, the old shaman realizes all too late that he did not return alone.

Ky's disappearance is coupled with bizarre animal attacks around the area that have the local sheriff (Ky's Dad) in a desperate quest to solve the problem.  Meanwhile, an ancient text recovered from the scene of the accident by Ky's friends have them convinced he is still alive - but the Ky they once knew is gone.

The race is on to reverse the curse on their friend without tipping off his Dad, or being killed in the process.
